An early settlers’ hut on the site became their home and they farmed the land and were soon able to purchase the block. that was part of the Henry Dendy Special Survey 1841.
In 1855 they sailed to Australia aboard the SS Omega.Īt first they rented a block of land on Jasper Road East Brighton ( now McKinnon / Ormond). Elizabeth Avis was the daughter of Thomas and Eleanor aka Ellen Avis nee Robinson. William Box was born in 1834 in Withyham, Sussex England and married Elizabeth Avis 13th November 1854 at Tunbridge Wells, Kent England. The photographs have been commercially produced. This is a brown photograph album containing 72 black and white photographs of Australian soldiers in World War One (Gallipoli, Palestine, France etc). Winnie Willock was born in Warrnambool around 1882 and served as a nursing sister in World War 1enlisting in October 1915 and returned in 1919. The sepia photographs depict people of different ages. Some of the photographers listed on the back include Stewart & Co., Bourke St East, Melbourne, Theodor Bloch Trafalgar St Nelson, A McDonald St George’s Hall Bourke St East Melbourne, G Kendall, Echuca and E.
